In the event and network platform Swissbau Focus with around 60 events, experts discuss the topics of training and further education, spatial development, the construction industry, the energy transition, architecture and planning, building systems and materials, interior architecture and design, use and maintenance, and building technology.

history

In 1974 the construction sector was spun off from the Swiss sample fair and Swissbau took place independently for the first time as a Swiss trade fair . 314 exhibitors met around 40,000 visitors at the premiere. During the fourth edition in 1981, the number of visitors rose to over 100,000 and two years later, more than 1,000 exhibitors were won over to the fair. Due to the heterogeneous subject areas and visitor target groups, the two subjects shell construction and interior construction were separated from 1997 onwards and an alternating trade fair on one of these subjects took place every year. In 2005, the company went back to the beginnings and reunited the areas every two years in order to map as large a part of the life cycle of a property as possible. In 2012, Hilsa, the Swiss trade fair for building technology, was integrated into Swissbau. In the same year, the event and network platform Swissbau Focus was introduced alongside the classic exhibition area. For the 40th anniversary in 2014, Swissbau took place for the first time in the new Messe Basel building designed by Herzog & de Meuron .
