switchh
switchh (made-up word from English to switch "to switch, to swap", and HH vehicle registration number from Hamburg) is a multimodal transport concept for networking several publicly accessible modes of transport in Hamburg . The main features are exclusive parking spaces for car sharing vehicles. These can be handed in or borrowed at switchh points . Larger systems are usually located at rapid transit stops and also have a station for rental bicycles and, if necessary, other facilities. The coordinator and operator of switchh is Hamburger Hochbahn with its partners DriveNow , car2go , cambio and StadtRAD .
history
The offer for Hochbahn subscribers was originally developed in cooperation with car2go. The rental cars should complement the offer in addition to bus transport. In a pilot phase, special parking spaces were set up at several underground stations. Additional providers have been included in the mobility concept for regular operations.
Further development
Due to the very high parking pressure, decentralized switchh points were set up on a trial basis in the districts of Ottensen and Eimsbüttel . This should reduce the number of vehicles parked in densely populated areas with the help of car sharing in the medium to long term. Numerous new decentralized switchh points have been planned since summer 2018, which will include two to four parking spaces. Some have already been implemented such as B. Rostocker Straße opposite No. 20 or Nernstweg before No. 32.
By January 2020, numerous other switchh points had been set up in various densely populated areas of Hamburg.
criticism
The expectation of creating a supplement to local public transport could not be proven in reality. When these special parking spaces were set up in densely populated areas from 2018, resistance from residents was originally expected. After designating many new locations, they are now respected. Legal
The elevated railway takes care of the creation (i.e. provision and design of the areas) and maintenance of the switchh points , as well as the marketing. The user concludes a separate contract with each partner. In this case, Hochbahn acts as an intermediary, bundles and simplifies the sometimes complex registrations. As part of a monthly switchh subscription, the user receives 20 minutes each from the providers DriveNow and car2go for € 8.90 per month (status: 2018).
As part of the merger of the providers car2go and DriveNow to form ShareNow on January 14, 2020, the above Subscription instead of free minutes so-called credits with the equivalent of € 13.80 are credited. (Status: February 2020)
Wrong parking
The switchh points are regularly checked by an external service provider. The legal basis for this is the BGB and not the StVO . Due to ignorance, private vehicles or other car sharing providers are repeatedly parked there. The service provider's processing fees are added to the contract penalties of € 20-25.
