The Sx̌ʷəx̌ʷnitkʷ Provincial Park (Okanagan Falls) is an approximately 2 hectare provincial park in the Canadian province of British Columbia , which was still called Okanagan Falls Provincial Park until 2015 . The park is one of the ten smallest Provincial Parks in British Columbia and is located on the western edge of Okanagan Falls , in the Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen . The park is separated from the settlement by the Okanogan River .

In the Okanagan language , the name means Little Falls and is associated with Kettle Falls as these were both important salmon fishing spots in the Okanagan area.

Nearby, on the shores of Skaha Lake , is the Christie Memorial Provincial Park .

history

The park is one of the older of the remaining BC Provincial Parks and was established in 1956. In 2015, the park was renamed and is together with the since Osoyoos Indian Band , a group of First Nations of the people of Okanagan managed,

Flora and fauna

Because of the small size of the park, classification into the British Columbia ecosystem is problematic. The park is assigned to the Very Dry Hot Subzone within the Bunchgrass Zone .

The park is a popular destination for travelers on the nearby Okanagan Highway .

The park offers 25 parking spaces for tents or mobile homes and has simple sanitary facilities.
