Sylke Zimpel

Sylke Zimpel (born September 10, 1959 in Dresden ) is a German composer , choir director and lecturer. She lives and works in Dresden.

Life

Zimpel attended the Cottbus Conservatory from 1971 to 1978. From 1978 to 1983 she studied composition with Karl-Rudi Griesbach and Wilfried Krätzschmar at the Hochschule für Musik "Carl Maria von Weber" and from 1990 to 1993 at the Hochschule für Musik Franz Liszt Weimar with Jürgen Puschbeck and 1993 to 1994 at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique in Lyon with Nicole Corti-Lyant and Bernard Tétu the subject of choral conducting.

In 1986 she founded the choir stage TRITONUS , whose choir she has directed ever since. With the choir stage, Zimpel received several awards for the musical programs, mostly performed in scenic form. She also founded the women's choir femmes vocales in 1995 , which she also directs.

In addition to her work as a choir director, Sylke Zimpel has made a name for herself as a composer of choral works for mixed and female choirs. Folk song arrangements by Eastern European sages (including many Yiddish songs) are a focus.

  • Scholarship holder of the State of Saxony in the Künstlerhaus Schloss Wiepersdorf (1998 and 2002)
  • Prize at the 1st composition competition of the Saxon Music Council (2000)
  • 1st prize at the composition competition of the Lower Saxony / Bremen Choir Association in the women's choir category (2001)
  • Scholarship stay at Casa Baldi in Olevano Romano / Italy - Scholarship from the Federal Commissioner for Culture and Media (2007)
  • 1st prize in the 1st composition competition of the Croatian Choir Conductors Association (2008)
