Sylvie Faucheux

Sylvie Faucheux (born May 29, 1960 in Paris ) is a French economist . Her main focus is on environmental economics and sustainable development .

Career, research and teaching

Faucheux studied economics and econometrics at the Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne , where she received her Ph.D. -Study successfully completed and qualified as a professor . She then stayed at the university as a senior lecturer before she was appointed full professor in 1992 and moved to the Université du Maine . In 1994 she followed a call from the University of Versailles . From 2002 she headed the university as president, in 2009 she was also promoted to "Professeur des universités classe exceptionnelle". Between 2012 and 2014 she headed the Académie de Dijon and was also Chancellor of the University of Burgundy . She then moved to the Conservatoire national des arts et métiers as a professor of economics .

Faucheux was awarded the Ordre des Palmes Académiques , 2002 for the first time knight ("Chevalier") and ten years later she received the highest rank of Commander ("Commandeur"). In addition, with the rank of knight, she has been a member of the Legion of Honor since 2010 and the Ordre national du Mérite since 2005 . In 1996 she was the founding chairwoman of the European Association for Ecological Economics , which she directed until 2000. She was also a member of various economic committees advising political decision-makers on sustainable development and climate change . She has headed the INSEEC U. start-up center since 2016 , and is also the scientific director of the DEFORM project of the European Commission as part of the Horizon 2020 funding program. She was a founding editor of the periodical International Journal of Sustainable Development , which first appeared in 1997.
