Alytus Symphony Orchestra

The Alytus Symphony Orchestra (lit. Alytaus jaunimo simfoninis orkestras "Svajonė" ) is a youth symphony orchestra in Alytus , Lithuania . The orchestra consists of 77 musicians (2014), most of whom are the students, graduates or teachers of the Alytus Music School. The director and conductor of the orchestra is Daiva Martikonytė.

history

From 2000 to 2005 the idea of ​​a youth orchestra was developed. There were the first international projects of the string orchestra of the Alytus music school, the orchestra's first trip abroad to Catalonia (Spain). The Alytus Symphony Orchestra was founded in 2005 while preparing for the fifth international youth camp "Traum 2005", where musicians from Lithuania, Sweden and Spain took part. The first orchestral and mixed choir program was performed with Modestas Pitrėnas in Alytus and Vilnius . In September 2006 the orchestra took part in the Creative Youth Camp in Catalonia.

At the beginning of summer 2007 there was an orchestral performance during Vilnius City Days as well as at the International Music Festival "Fiori musicali" in Šiauliai . In August 2007 the orchestra visited Ceisis in Latvia . There were 16 concerts in 2010 and around 30 in 2011. In 2011 there were concerts with the orchestra "Orquestra Johve de la Selva" from Selva (Catalonia) , concert in Olsztyn (Poland). From 2011 to 2012 there were 90 to 100 musicians in the orchestra.
