Peter von Rawita-Ostrowski

Peter von Rawita-Ostrowski (Polish Piotr Rawita-Ostrowski , also known as Peter von Ostrowski or in South America as Pedro Ostrowski ) (born May 14, 1902 in Schloss Zulehen, Rien, Waidhofen an der Ybbs , Lower Austria ; † October 24, 1964 in Chaclacayo in Lima ) was a in Bavaria and in Peru active painter . He mainly created portraits, still lifes with flowers and landscapes.

Life

Peter von Rawita-Ostrowski came from a Polish aristocratic family and was the son of Gustav Anton Ladislaus Stanislaus Kostka Count Rawita von Ostrow-Ostrowski (1860-1923) and Countess Eugenie von Haugwitz (1875-1944).

Peter von Rawita-Ostrowski studied graphics and painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich under Carl Johann Becker-Gundahl and at Moritz Heymann's painting school . There he met the painter Karoline Wittmann , whom he portrayed twice. These portraits are in the estate of Karoline Wittmann. He initially lived in Schleissheim. In 1948 he went to South America, where he lived in Peru.

In 1979 his widow Mariana Ostrowska donated 50 of his works to the National Museum in Kraków .
