Synagogue in Baja

The synagogue in Baja , a southern Hungarian town in Bács-Kiskun County , was built between 1842 and 1845. The secular synagogue in the neoclassical style is a protected cultural monument .

The building at Munkácsy Mihály utca 7-9 was built according to plans by the architect Frey Lajos . The main facade has a double row of columns . The city library has been located in the former synagogue since 1985. During the renovation, an attempt was made to preserve the character of the original sacred building.
