Synagogue (Herne)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The synagogue in Herne , a large city in North Rhine-Westphalia , was built in 1910/11. The synagogue stood at the intersection of Schäferstrasse and Hermann-Löns-Strasse, formerly Hohenzollernstrasse.

The synagogue in Herne was similar to other Westphalian synagogue buildings, such as B. in Münster or Detmold .

During the November pogrom in 1938 , the National Socialists set the synagogue on fire. The roof structure and the interior burned out completely.
