Essen synagogue district

The synagogue district of Essen , based in Essen , today a major city in North Rhine-Westphalia , was created according to the Prussian Jewish Law of 1847 .

The cities of Kettwig and Steele (until 1879) as well as the mayorships of Borbeck and Werden belonged to the synagogue district of Essen .
