Syncrude Canada Ltd. is a Canadian company in the oil industry. The company, headquartered in Fort McMurray, is a joint venture of the oil producers Suncor Energy (58.74%), Imperial Oil (25%), Sinopec (9.03%), Nexen (7.23%). Syncrude extracts raw bitumen from oil sands in the Alberta region of Canada, mainly Athabasca oil sands in the Fort McMurray region. The raw bitumen is processed into synthetic crude oil in the course of processing . Syncrude's total production capacity is 350,000 bpd of crude oil. Syncrude has been accused of pollution and aboriginal displacement on multiple occasions in the past.
