Synod of Mistelbach

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Synod of Mistelbach was a synod held in Mistelbach near Wels in Upper Austria around 985 .

The first church in Mistelbach was on the "Mistlberg" and was dedicated to St. John the Baptist . This church was much more important than today's branch church St. Margareta , because she was the mother parish of the Traungau.

Around 985, Bishop Pilgrim von Passau held a synod in Mistelbach, at which church conditions were regulated and the parish boundaries were redefined. Among other things, the baptistery in Naarn is mentioned.

The crosier in the municipal coat of arms of Buchkirchen commemorates this synod.
