Syrian Petroleum Company ( SPC ; Arabic شركة السورية للنفط, DMG Šarikat as-sūriyya li-n-nafṭ ) is a Syrian state-owned company with its headquarters in Damascus . The company is active in the extraction and production of petroleum . The company was founded in 1974. SPC owns 50 percent of the shares in Syria's largest oil producer, al-Furat Petroleum Company . The oil companies Royal Dutch Shell and Petro-Canada hold additional shares in al-Furat Petroleum Company .

Furthermore, SPC owns the following shares in companies (as of 2008):

  • Amrit Petroleum Company (50%)
  • Awda Petroleum Company (50%)
  • Dujla Petroleum Company (50%)
  • Hayyan (50%)
  • Kawkab Oil Company (KOC) (50%)
  • Deir Ezzor Petroleum Company (50%)

On February 14, 2009, the Syrian government restructured the state-owned companies and established the General Cooperation for Refining and Distribution of Petroleum Products by law . Since then the following companies have belonged to it:

  • Baniyas Refinery Company
  • Homs Refinery Company
  • Syrian Company for Distribution and Storage Petroleum Products
  • Syrian Company for Gas Distribution.

Another law established the General Petroleum Company (GPC). This took over the following companies:

  • Syrian Gas Company
  • Syrian Petroleum Company (SPC)
  • Syrian Petroleum Transportation Company
