Syriskos painter
A syriskos painter is an Attic - red-figure vase painter who lived around 490 to 470 BC. Was active in Athens .
It is named after the potter Syriskos , for whom he painted an astragalus signed by him . Stylistically, the Syriskos painter is very close to the so-called Copenhagen painter , John D. Beazley referred to the two as "brothers". In the meantime, however, it has been confirmed by a signature that the Copenhagen painter is identical with Syriskos, who not only worked as a potter, but also as a vase painter.
Originally, John D. Beazley had divorced a Kephalos painter , whose work he defined in 1963 as the later work of the Syriskos painter.
