Sysmex KK ( Japanese シ ス メ ッ ク ス 株式会社 , Shisumekkusu Kabushiki-gaisha , Engl. Sysmex Corporation ) is a Japanese in-vitro diagnostics company based in Kobe , Japan . Founded in 1978 as Toa Tokushu Denki KK ( 東 亜 特殊 電機 株式会社 , dt. "East Asia special electronic devices "), Sysmex sells laboratory analyzers for blood tests worldwide. In the 2017 fiscal year, the company generated sales of 249.899 billion yen (1.87 billion euros). Sysmex describes itself as the market leader in the field of hematology and employed around 8,500 people in 2018, around 800 of them in Germany.
Sysmex maintains a sales network with 53 subsidiaries and 63 sales partners in over 190 countries.
