history

The hamlet of Tännich is said to have existed as early as 900 AD. Depending on the climate, there was a change between settlement and desert .

The manor and manor house (castle) were sold by the childless noble owner at the beginning of the 20th century. From 1924 to 1933 the “Friedrich-Ebert-Heim” was located in Tännich Castle, as their Reich holiday home, the first educational establishment for the socialist youth workers . The building was leased in 1924. The artist Alfred Hanf created the ceiling paintings in the castle in the same year. Many SAJD events took place. In April 1933 the youth home was closed by the National Socialists . It became a HJ home, then a further training facility for the Nazi lecturers. After the war it was used for a short time as workers' accommodation for the SDAG Wismut. Afterwards it was an agricultural school and an FDJ training center. From 1963 to 1972 the castle was a youth hostel. From 1972 the castle was taken over by the Weimar factory and, after extensive renovation and renovation work, was used as a company holiday home and children's holiday camp until 1990. After the fall of the Wall, the castle was unused for a long time.

In 1999 15 women moved in and the area became a " beguinage ". These moved out again in 2005 after serious disputes. In the course of this use, all fixtures (restaurant, social rooms and guest rooms) were converted by the women and ruined in the process. The castle has been privately owned since 2005 and is being renovated.

Recently, attention has been drawn to three medieval devastations in the Tännich area.
