Dot nails are structural changes in the nails. They occur on fingernails and toenails and are 1–2 mm large, round, oval or punctiform substance defects caused by a cornification disorder of the nail matrix, which occur in the form of depressions in the nail plate and can occur in one or more nails.

causes

Causes can be growth disorders , psoriasis vulgaris , alopecia areata , eczema and drug side effects, these can occur idiopathically or symptomatically with the underlying disease.

pathology

Inadequate keratinization causes defective areas to break out of the nail matrix and leave dimple-shaped depressions.

treatment

Therapy is not required in addition to treating the underlying disease, but appropriate nail gels can be used for aesthetic reasons to improve the visual appearance.
