Turk Danış

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In 1962, Türk Danış was the first social service for Turkish workers in Germany. The facilities were founded by the Arbeiterwohlfahrt .

The advisory institution mostly filled its positions with religiously and ideologically neutral Turks and Kurds, which in some cases may have led to acceptance problems. The socio-political support for Turks in Germany by the Türk Danış facilities of the workers' welfare organization was nevertheless so formative at the beginning of the 1960s that some Turkish-German dictionaries included the term "Türkdanis", which actually only means "advice center for Turks" Translate "Worker's Welfare Advice Center for Turks".

Some of the facilities continue to work under the name of Türk Danış as advisory and working groups for migrants, and some have been renamed. Its long-term federal coordinator was Fuat Bultan (1972 to 1994).
