The Türk Tabipleri Birliği (TTB; "Turkish Medical Association", literally "Association of Turkish Doctors") is the professional body of freelance doctors in Turkey, which was founded under Law No. 6023 of January 23, 1953 and a public body On the right side there is. It brings together the medical associations from the provinces of Turkey , in which there are at least 100 medical professionals. In 2006 this was 65 out of 81 provinces. Its tasks include the protection of public health, professional ethics, a say in training, commitment to the interests of the medical profession and protection of the material and moral rights of the members. The TTB is primarily financed by membership fees and does not receive any support from the government.
Organizational structure
TTB was founded in Istanbul in 1953 and relocated to Ankara in 1983. In the medical associations of the provinces (İl Tabip Odaları) the members elect a board of five to seven people. Honorary councils (Onur Kurulları) are responsible for disciplinary matters and the finances are checked by control councils (Denetim Kurulları) . Every two years these bodies elect delegates who elect the 11-member Central Council (Merkez Konseyi) and the Honorary and Control Council in the TTB . The General Board (two delegates from each chamber) elects a 7-member Central Executive Council (Merkez Yürütme Kurulu) , which meets every month, to carry out the tasks .

Membership is mandatory for freelance medical professionals. Medical professionals in the public service can become members upon request. Half of the members were employed in the public sector in 2006. The TTB is a member of the World Medical Association and is also involved in the European Forum of Medical Associations .
