The Turkish Workers Choir West Berlin , Batıberlin İşçi Korosu in Turkish , was the first Turkish-speaking workers choir to be founded outside of Turkey .
From the 1970s onwards, the founder, composer and conductor Tahsin İncirci made the choir well known: radio appearances, a collaboration with German trade union choirs, international appearances and recordings at the left-wing record publisher Plans indicate this. In this context, the choir has often interpreted political poetry - not infrequently in settings by its leader. Participation in GDR events such as the 11th Festival of Political Songs in East Berlin in 1981 .
Members of the choir who later started a solo career were, for example, the later solo jazz singer Özay Fecht and Sema Moritz , who mainly appeared in Germany with Sema & Taksim .
In 1986 the choir took part in the recordings of the Kreuzberger Freunde ensemble .
