The TAM (Theater am Marienplatz) is a private theater in Krefeld that has been specializing in avant-garde music and literature under its director Pit Therre since the 1970s. Many pieces by Mauricio Kagel and his student Carola Bauckholt , who was a member of the ensemble from 1976 to 1984, as well as works by Suchan Kinoshita were premiered there. Pieces by Gerhard Rühm , Ernst Jandl and Karlheinz Stockhausen were and are on the program. For Mauricio Kagel, the TAM had developed into a house theater, where he occasionally directed. In the niche of modern composers, the theater enjoys a good reputation worldwide, including numerous guest appearances at renowned festivals such as the Berlin Biennale for contemporary music, the Printemps des Arts festival in Monaco, guest performances in Paris, Tel Aviv, Turin, Lille, Zurich and Vienna , Aix-en-Provence and the Venice Biennale.
