TDA7000

The TDA7000 was the first integrated circuit to contain an almost complete VHF receiver . Due to its historical importance, this component was inducted into the English Chip Hall of Fame of the IEEE .

It was developed by Philips employees Dieter Kasperkovitz and Harm van Rumpt, and the receiver was patented in 1977. The component initially received no support from the company, but this changed after the physicist Peter Langendam , who works at Philips in Hamburg , made this component available to Japanese device manufacturers. Eventually 5 billion pieces of this component and its variants (TDA7010T, TDA7010U) were sold, he made numerous miniaturized devices such as B. clock radio only possible.
