The TG Heilbronn was a sports club from Heilbronn . The club was founded on April 2nd, 1845 as one of the oldest sports clubs in Germany. After the TG Heilbronn was initially a pure gymnastics club, the fencing, handball, canoeing, athletics and swimming departments were created at the end of the 19th century. Other branches were added later.
In 1920 a football department was founded, which, however, became independent as the gymnastics company Heilbronn as early as 1923 as part of the so-called "clean divorce" , but was rejoined in the gymnastics community around 1934.
The footballers played from 1966 to 1971 and again in 1977 for six seasons in the third-rate amateur league North Württemberg . Athletes from other disciplines, such as canoeing and athletics, also achieved success at the state and federal level, as well as internationally.
In 2001 the TG Heilbronn 1845 merged without the now independent tennis department with the TSV Sontheim to the large club TSG 1845 Heilbronn .
