TI-82
TI-82 CS, the more modern version of the TI-82.

The TI-82 is a graphing calculator released by Texas Instruments in 1993. It is a more user-friendly version of the TI-85 with a 6 MHz Zilog Z80 microprocessor , but has fewer features than its predecessor and therefore had a lower list price. When the TI-83 and TI-83 Plus came on the market, they replaced the TI-82 as the most popular high school school calculator. Due to its low price, it is still widespread there, although the last models are from 1999. In the meantime, however, there are the revised versions of the TI-82, the TI-82 CS with a new, more contemporary design in the same color as its predecessor and with rounded corners as well as the TI-82 Stats , which is kept in blue and also has some new functions has, for example, revised statistical functions and functions from finance.

Function overview

The basic model TI-82 has the following functions:

  • Trigonometric functions
  • Probability and comparison operations
  • Graphical representation of curves in polar coordinates as well as recursive series
  • Functions for basic curve discussion
  • Zoom and drawings
  • Mathematical angle and test operations
  • Matrix calculations: up to five matrix variables possible
  • Programming in TI-Basic

In contrast, the TI-82 Stats is also characterized by improved statistical functions, financial calculations and the support of complex numbers .

A loophole similar to that of the TI-85 also allows assembly code to be run on the TI-82 . As a result, alternative assembler shells such as Ash, CrASH, ACE (AshCrASHEnhanced) or SNG were created, which have direct memory access, faster calculations, more complex graphics (with sprites ) and even pseudo-sound via the communication port (if headphones are connected via a suitable adapter) enable.
