TJ Doheny (* 2 November 1986 in Port Laoise , Ireland , as Terrence John Doheny ) is an Irish - Australian professional boxer in the super bantamweight and former world champion of the IBF Super Bantamweight. He is southpaw .

Amateur career

TJ Doheny was Irish junior flyweight champion in 2003. In the adults he won bronze at national championships in 2005 and 2007, and silver in 2006 and 2008.

Professional career

Doheny made his professional debut in April 2012. In August 2013, he won the PABA super bantamweight title, which he was able to defend six times. On August 16, 2018, he defeated Ryōsuke Iwasa in the fight for the IBF world title in super bantamweight and was able to defend the belt against Ryohei Takahashi in January 2019.

On April 26, 2019, he played a title unification fight against WBA world champion Daniel Roman and lost just under points.
