The TP-Link Technologies Co., Ltd. is a Chinese manufacturer of network products , smart home devices and telephones for the home and small and medium-sized businesses.

Corporate structure

The company was founded in 1996 in Shenzhen ( Chinese  深圳 市 , Pinyin Shēnzhèn Shì ) in China, where the head office is also located. The name is derived from " twisted pair cable ", an original product of the company.

According to its own information, the group sold 150 million devices worldwide in 2017, generating sales of around 2.2 billion US dollars. With a market share of 42% in the global consumer WLAN market (IDC WLAN Tracker Report Q4 / 2018), TP-Link is the global leader. TP-Link employs around 26,000 people worldwide.

The German subsidiary TP-Link Deutschland GmbH , based in Hofheim am Taunus , has existed since 2008 and started business in 2009. The wholly-owned subsidiary of TP-Link UK Limited , based in Reading , United Kingdom, houses the European sales department, customer service and central warehouse for Western Europe. In 2016, the German company generated sales of 144.9 million euros with an average of 78 employees.

Products

TP-Link develops, produces and sells products in the field of network devices such as routers , UMTS modems , switches , W-LAN access points , powerlines , ADSL modems , print servers , media converters , IP cameras , network cards , smart homes and power over ethernet .

At the beginning of 2016, TP-Link entered the smartphone market under the Neffos brand with initially three Android models.
