TRT-3 is the third television program of the Turkish public broadcaster TRT .

content

TRT-3 is dedicated to political reporting in its broadcasts. The main part of the program consists of the live broadcast of debates from the Turkish National Assembly and of analyzes and debates following the plenary sessions. This makes TRT-3 a parliamentary channel .

On-screen identity

After the start of broadcasting in 1989, the usual white block lettering "TV3", which was used in the existing TRT programs (TV1, TV2) at that time, was used as the station identifier, but in 1992 it was analogous to TRT-1 and -2 in "TRT-3 " was changed. In the 1990s, the color of the on-screen appearance of TRT-3 was light green; it has been orange since 2006.

history

On October 2, 1989, TRT-3 went on air as the third full program at the time. Until the mid-nineties, the character of the full program was retained, even if the proportion of parliamentary broadcasts has grown steadily since then and sports reporting took up a significantly larger proportion of the airtime than with TRT-1 . TRT-3 introduced numerous international series to Turkish television, so u. a. Matlock, Columbo, Bonanza, Mash, Perry Mason and Hercule Poirot. Since 1998, TRT-3 was a special interest broadcaster for parliamentary broadcasts, politics and sports reporting. All other formats migrated to other TRT channels. In 2012, the subject areas were separated again, so that a separate channel for sport was created with the name TRT-Spor and the political area remained with TRT-3.

Odds

Sports broadcasts gave TRT-3 consistently higher ratings than political reporting. When sport was still the focus of content on TRT-3, the station temporarily (after TRT-1 ) had the second highest audience among the TRT television programs. Today's parliamentary channel continues to achieve quota peaks for important debates and decisions of the National Assembly. With the split into TRT-3 and TRT-Spor , however, the number of viewers at TRT-3 tends to decrease.
