The TSG Augsburg - Lechhausen 1885 eV is a sports club from Augsburg with about. 1700 members in a total of 16 departments.

history

The club was founded on March 12, 1885 as TV Lechhausen in the then independent city of Lechhausen, which was incorporated into Augsburg on January 1, 1913, and was initially a pure gymnastics club. In 1892 he built a gym in the Hammerschmiede district. After the end of the First World War in 1918, a football department was created with the involvement of the players from FC Lechhausen , which was founded in 1911, and rose to the second-highest division in 1923 as champions of the A-class. In 1924, the footballers became independent under the name FC Union . This separation was reversed in 1934, the club was now called Turn- und Sport-Union 1885 Augsburg and finally after merging with other sports clubs in the north of Augsburg from April 1941 TSG Augsburg 1885 . In 1942 the soccer team was promoted to the Gauliga Südbayern , ie the top division.

After the war ended, they belonged to the Bavarian Amateur League from 1950 to 1956 and, in 1964, became the first champion of the newly introduced Landesliga Süd to rise again to the Bavarian League , but rose again after only one year as bottom of the table . From 1965 to 1977 and 1983–1988, TSG was still fourth class as a state division, since then the footballers have slipped further and in 2005 they reached the tenth division, the A-Class Augsburg.

In the 1970s, the club's premises on Schillstrasse were continuously expanded, which caused the club to get heavily in debt, so that the premises finally had to be sold to the city of Augsburg.
