The TV Kalkum-Wittlaer (full name: Turnverein Kalkum 1911 - Wittlaer eV ) is a sports club from the Düsseldorf districts of Kalkum and Wittlaer . The first men's soccer team played in the Oberliga Niederrhein in the 2015/16 season .
history
The association was founded in 1911 as TV Kalkum 1911 . In the mid-1960s, new sports facilities were built in the neighboring village of Wittlaer, so that the club took its current name. For decades, the footballers only played at the district level and in 2009 made it into the district league for the first time. After a runner-up in 2013 behind the Düsseldorfer SC 99 , he was promoted to the Lower Rhine regional league a year later . There the team immediately became champions and made it through to the top division.
After only one season, relegation followed in 2015/16 as bottom of the table. During the season, the Düsseldorf team caused a curiosity when their home game against KFC Uerdingen 05 was lost without a fight because the club violated the implementation regulations. For safety reasons, the game was not allowed to take place on the company's own sports field and the Paul Janes Stadium alternative location was occupied. Since the TV Kalkum-Wittlaer tried too late to postpone the game, the game was canceled and Uerdingen scored 3-0. In the following state league season 2016/17, the team was passed through to the district league.
In addition to soccer, the club also offers gymnastics and volleyball .
