Tacet ( Latin : "he / she / it is silent") is an independent music label in Germany that specializes in classical music .
It was founded in 1989 by the sound engineer Andreas Spreer in Stuttgart . Since then, around 200 classical music releases have appeared on CD, LP, SACD or DVD-Audio.
In the 1990s, the label released the parlor game series “Premiere” with music CDs of various styles.
There is a collaboration with the pianist Evgeni Koroliov , the Auryn Quartet , the conductor Wojciech Rajski and the Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra . New developments in recording technology such as "tube only" or "Tacet Real Surround Sound" were created.
In 2010 the label received the special prize of the German Record Critics' Prize for the publication Hommage à Steuermann .
