LP5 is the famous title of the nameless studio album by the British electronic group Autechre . It was released on July 13, 1998 on Warp .
The album itself has no title, but Warp Records called it "LP5" as it is the duo's fifth studio album. A similar strategy was used with the "EP7". However, the album was also called "Autechre Album" or "Autechre" on promotional copies.
style
Stylistically, the album leaves the paths full, warm sounds of albums like Tri Repetae for a simple, edgy and technical style, which they began on the previous album Chiastic Slide (1997) and the Cichlisuite EP.
The album cover is again kept very simple: a black and gray tone dominates the album, in black rounded letters "autechre" is written in the upper right corner. It was not - like most other Autechre albums - designed by The Designers Republic , but by Booth and Brown himself.
reception
The album received a positive rating of 8.4 / 10 on Pitchfork Media .
The album received 4.5 out of 5 stars at allmusic . The critic Greg Prato wrote:
“Since the tracks are all woven from the same acoustic material, it is advisable to listen to the album in full, but the tracks" Acroyear2, "" Rae, "and" Fold4, Wrap5 "are the definitive highlights. Although not everyone will like the album, LP5 should be admired as it is not comparable to anything that has been or has been. Without a doubt a pioneer. "

↑ English original:
Since all the songs are cut from the same sonic cloth, the album is best when listened to in its entirety, but the tracks "Acroyear2," "Rae," and "Fold4, Wrap5" are definite highlights. Although not for everyone, LP5 should be admired, since it's not comparable to anything past or present. Uncompromisingly cutting-edge. - ↑ Review on allmusic
