Scado opencast mine

The Scado opencast mine southwest of Senftenberg existed from 1939 to 1977. Lignite was mined in it. It was flooded with the water of the Black Elster from 2004 to 2015 , creating the Partwitzer See .

The place Groß Partwitz , which was in the area of ​​the opencast mine, was devastated in 1969 and 1970 . There has been a memorial to the site in Klein Partwitz since 2001.
