Residential house and behind it the Tahara house in Zeckern

The Tahara House on the Jewish cemetery in Zeckern , a district of the Hemhofen community in the Erlangen-Höchstadt district ( Bavaria ), was built around 1710. The Tahara House , northwest of the village, is a protected architectural monument .

description

The Tahara House is located on the southern corner of the cemetery and is thus at the lowest point of the site. In 1893, a residential building was added to the Tahara house, which is much larger. The Tahara House is an unadorned solid building with a gable roof 4.17 m wide and 4.50 m long. On the northeast side, a round arched door leads to the interior, which is covered by a groin vault. Two small openings on the long sides are more for ventilation than exposure. The stone Tahara table on the southwest wall has a 72 cm and 187 cm long plate. The corpse washing water can drain off through channels on the long sides. Another channel in the stone slabs of the floor then guides the water through a passage in the side wall to the outside, where it can seep away.

There is still a wooden bier in the Tahara house .
