Tai Orathai ( Thai : ต่า ย อรทัย , pronunciation: [tàːj ʔɔːráʔtʰaj] , alternative spelling: Tai Oratai ; born March 27, 1980 in Ban Khum , Ubon Ratchathani Province , Thailand ) is a Luk-Thung singer from Ubon Ratchathani Province in Thailand.

Names

Tai's maiden name is Orathai Dapkham ( อรทัย ดาบ คำ ). Her nickname is Tai.

life and career

Tai Orathai was born on March 27, 1980 in Khum Village, Na Chaluai County, Ubon Ratchathani Province. The province of Ubon Ratchathani is located in the northeast region of Thailand, the so-called Isan . She studied at Ramkhamhaeng University and graduated in 2009. She was the first Luk Thung singer to sell 1 million albums.

Tai and her four siblings grew up with their grandmother after their parents separated. When she was only 11, she had to help her grandmother around the house and look after her siblings. After graduating from senior high school, Tai worked in a pharmaceutical factory to earn enough money to support her grandmother and younger brother.

Tai made her first small appearances during the senior year of junior high school, which brought her the first receipt in the form of 5 or 10 baht tips on Children's Day at her school . Tai currently has a contract with GMM Grammy .
