The Taifun is one of the fast and technically demanding single-handed dinghies .
The boats are sailed one-handed in the adult area and partly multi-handed in the youth area, are 5.20 m long and have a mainsail and a foresail . To improve the trim, the boat has a riding board on each side in the rear area of the cockpit .
Every year in Germany, a German best determination and a German youth best determination according to the criteria of the German Sailing Association as well as a corresponding championship according to the specifications of the German Canoe Association (DKV) is carried out for the class, as the boat class is organized in both associations. In the DKV, the boat class is classified as a national boat class .
In 2011 the world championships of the boat class took place in front of Travemünde , in 2015 the Euro-Cup took place as part of the Travemünde week .
