The main cities of the Taiheiyō Belt are connected by the Tōkaidō and San'yō Shinkansen .

The megalopolis Taiheiyō Belt ( Japanese 太平洋 ベ ル ト , Taiheiyō beruto , "Pacific Belt ") is the 1200 km long city band in Japan , which extends from Tokyo on the island of Honshū to Fukuoka on the island of Kyūshū.

While the eastern part of the megalopolis extends along the Pacific, the western part follows the Seto Inland Sea .

Around 82.9 million people live here, which means that around 65 percent of the population of Japan live in this megalopolis.
