Takalik Abaj or Tak'alik Ab'aj (also known as Abaj Takalik due to a grammatical error ) is a Mayan ruins off the Pacific coast of Guatemala in the Retalhuleu department . The name means something like "standing stones".
In 1975 and 1976, numerous stone monuments, including steles and altars in the Mayan style, were uncovered. There are around 80 buildings with several plazas on an area of around 6.5 km². The city's heyday was probably from the eighth century BC. Until the second century AD
