Takarafuji Daisuke ( Japanese 宝 富士 大 輔 ; born February 18, 1987 in Aomori Prefecture ), actually Sugiyama Daisuke ( 杉山 大 輔 ), is a sumo wrestler in the Japanese Makuuchi division.
Sumo career
Sugiyama has been a member of the Isegahama stable since 2008. In March 2009 he made his sumo debut under the ring name Takarafuji. As a result, he posted a 6-1, but lost a total of two times against Aoki (the later Maegashira Tokushōryū); once during the tournament and again in the playoff to win the tournament. In his second tournament, Takarafuji won against Aoki and remained undefeated for the first six days, but lost to the later maegashira Takanoiwa on the last day and thus missed the yusho again. In July 2009 he made his debut in the Sandanme division and this time he won the title with a perfect 7-0 record. Even in the third highest division ( Makushita ), which he had reached after only three professional tournaments, Takarafuji immediately delivered very good results, but these did not help to win another tournament. In May 2010 he got the first make-koshi of his career (3-4), which did not prevent him from making the promotion to the Jūryō division perfect in the upcoming basho . Once there, Takarafuji achieved four kachi-koshi in a row, which ultimately meant the rise to makuuchi . There he could not establish himself at the beginning and was downgraded several times back to the Jūryō division. Only since January 2013 has he fought continuously in the top division. At the 2013 Haru Basho, Takarafuji achieved his best result to date with an 11-4, even though he lost four times in the first seven days. In the end, he was left with the Jun-Yusho behind tournament winner Hakuhō and the promotion to Maegashira 3 . He stood in May 2013 for the first time San'yaku - rikishi over against which he largely had no chance. A year later, Takarafuji started as Maegashira 2 in a new highest career rank. He lost eleven fights in a row but won the remaining four. In September 2014 Takarafuji (as Maegashira 4 ) defeated two Ōzeki ( Kisenosato and Gōeidō ) and also achieved a close Kachi-koshi (8-7). At the following Kyushu Basho he repeated this result and this time hit the Ōzeki Gōeidō and Kotoshōgiku . In January 2015 Takarafuji entered the tournament as Maegashira 1 East , which at that time represented a new highest rank in his career. On the second day he succeeded in defeating Yokozuna Kakuryū , for which he received his first Kinboshi . From day 3 to day 8 he suffered six losses in a row, but then won six times in a row. After 14 days of the tournament he was 7-7. From a gain of the last battle hung for Takarafuji both initial promotion to sanyaku his first -Ränge and the profit Sansho from, but he lost on the 15th day against maegashira Sadanoumi. In May 2015 he scored a 9-6 as Maegashira 1 and was therefore able to celebrate his debut in San'yaku in July . However, this was less successful and ended with a double-digit make-koshi.
