Sandanme

The Sandanme Division ( Japanese 三 段 目 , third degree ) is the third lowest class in Japanese sumo . It has 200 fighters (100 in the western and 100 in the eastern division).

Unlike the wrestlers of the lower leagues, members of the Sandanme are allowed to wear Haori and Hakama over the yukata , which is a relief, especially in winter. The wooden shoes ( Geta ) are replaced by more comfortable sandals ( Zōri ).
