Jonidan

The Jonidan Division ( Japanese 序 二段 ) is the second lowest league in Japanese sumo . She is the last one whose number of participating fighters is not specified. However, it usually has around 300 sumotori . Since these, like all lower divisions, only fight for one week of the tournaments, because of the high number of participants, an additional round is often necessary at the end of a tournament in order to determine the strongest fighters ( chaining ).

The prescribed clothing for members of the Jonidan Division are the yukata , a light cotton coat , and the wooden shoes geta .
