Tall Dwarfs are a New Zealand indie rock duo.
history
The New Zealand musicians Chris Knox and Alec Bathgate formed the Tall Dwarfs in Dunedin in 1979 . Both musicians play the instruments guitar , bass , keyboard and thus create a LoFi sound. Both also act as singers . The Tall Dwarfs do without a drummer , but use household appliances and clapping hands to create rhythm.
From 1981 to 2005 the Tall Dwarfs released eight albums and seven EPs, with two exceptions all of them on the New Zealand label Flying Nun Records and are therefore attributed to the Dunedin Sound . Overall, however, the music of the Tall Dwarfs is noisier and more disharmonious than that of the other Dunedin bands.
