The dam Big Dalton ( english Big Dalton Dam ) is located in the San Gabriel Mountains in Los Angeles County , USA . They dam the Big Dalton Canyon . The city of Glendora is approximately six kilometers to the southwest.
The dam was constructed by the Los Angeles County Flood Control District from 1927 to 1929 . It is used for flood protection. The dam is operated by the Los Angeles County Department of Public Works .
Barrier structure
The barrier structure is a combination of a pier dam and a multiple arch dam .
Reservoir
When the reservoir is fully blocked, it holds 1.3 million m³ (1.7 million cubic yards ) of water. The sediment deposits in the reservoir have already been removed several times by dredging.
