The Camba dam ( Portuguese Barragem de Camba ) is located in the northern region of Portugal in the Bragança district . It dams the Camba to a reservoir. The village of Gebelim is about 1.5 km west of the dam.

The project to build the dam began in 1985. The construction was completed in 1993. In addition to the drinking water supply, the dam is also used for irrigation. It is owned by the district administration CM Alfândega da Fé and the Direcção Regional de Agricultura de Trás-os-Montes .

Barrier structure

The barrier structure consists of a dam with a height of 35 m above the foundation level (30 m above the river bed). The top of the dam is at an altitude of 623 m above sea level . The length of the dam crest is 175 m and its width 8 m. The volume of the dam is 200,000 m³.

The dam has both a bottom outlet and a flood relief . A maximum of 5.2 m³ / s can be discharged via the bottom outlet, and a maximum of 40 m³ / s via the flood discharge. The design flood is 95 m³ / s; the probability of this event occurring has been determined to be once in 500 years.

Reservoir

With a normal storage target of 620.43 m (maximum 622 m at high water), the reservoir extends over an area of around 0.095 km² and holds 1.11 million m³ of water - of which 1.08 million m³ can be used. The minimum congestion target is 598 m.
