Tamás Jónás [ ˈtɒmaːʃ ˈjoːnaːʃ ] (born March 14, 1973 in Ózd , Northern Hungary ) is a Hungarian writer.

Life

Jónás is Rome , he lives in Budapest . He has published volumes of poetry and prose so far. His prose includes stories about people who live on the fringes of society (Sinti and Roma, the unemotional and the poor), as well as about children and women.

Critics argue that the irregularities, outbreaks, exaggerations, and mutilations are the most interesting in his writings; also his fairy-tale, sociographical, fantastic, sometimes ballad-like language and his reserved, sober style.

Jónás is an Arany-János , Artisjus, Soros and Herder scholarship holder. In 2009 he was awarded the Hungarian Aegon Art Prize ( AEGON Művészeti Díj ) for his collection of poems Önkéntes vak ( Voluntarily blind ) .
