Tamás St. Turba

Tamás St. Turba (born August 17, 1944 in Fót ) is a Hungarian Fluxus artist who is considered a key figure in the Hungarian post- avant-garde .

life and work

Tamás St. Turba was in the 1960s poet of concrete poetry and visual poetry , cartoonist and Mail Art Artists before neo-socialist realist was.

In 1966 he initiated the first happening in Hungary with Gábor Altorjay . In 1968 he founded the International Parallel Union of Telecommunications (IPUT) , of which he is now superintendent . In 1969 he organized the first Fluxus concert Az Ebéd / Lunch in Budapest. A second Fluxus concert in 1973 was banned shortly before the performance and made up exactly twenty years later. St. Turba, who works under various pseudonyms, for example Tamás St. Auby, at that time: Tamás Szentjóby, was not deterred by numerous repression from carrying out further happenings and actions. He was known by the Hungarian State Security under the code name "Schwitters". Centaur ( 1973–1975) is a well-known black and white film by Tamás St. Auby. In 1975 Tamás St. Turba was expelled from the country. He settled in Geneva and opened the new headquarters of IPUT there and developed the LSP 1984 W further. In 1991 he returned to Hungary and taught at the Hungarian Academy of Fine Arts .

In 2001, St. Auby founded the Global Front of Anti-Art History Forgers of the Neo-Socialist-Realistic IPUT (NETRAF) , in whose name he digitized around 1,100 works of art that were created between 1956 and 1976 and are still hardly known because they were banned at the time of their creation to present it in 2003 as the Portable Intelligence Increase Museum .

Tamás St. Turba exhibits internationally, among other things he was a participant of the dOCUMENTA (13) in Kassel in 2012 .
