Tamara Kinzurashvili

Tamara Kinzuraschwili (born May 8, 1970 in Zqaltubo , Georgian SSR ) is a Georgian journalist. Since August 2005 she has been Director General of Georgian Public Broadcasting (SSM).

Life

She studied journalism at Tbilisi State University , did internships with the New York Times and Washington Post newspapers, and the Reuters news agency . In 1994 she passed her exam.

From 1993 to 1995 she worked as a freelancer for Georgia's first independent daily newspaper, Droni (German: Die Zeit ). In 1995 she became political editor there, and in 1999 deputy editor-in-chief. From October 1999 she wrote for the US newspaper Desert News . In 2001, she temporarily moved to the Georgian-French wine producer Castel Georgia as public relations manager .

In the same year she became an employee of the Freedom Institute in Tbilisi and took over the management of the program for communication and media . She wrote and published Georgian standard works on freedom of the press and self-regulation of the media.

In March 2005, she was elected to the Georgian Public Broadcasting Board of Trustees by the Georgian Parliament , where she was promoted to Deputy Chairman of the Board of Trustees. On August 22nd, the board of trustees elected her to the general directorate of the broadcasting corporation for six years. It put an end to the outdated personnel structures based on protection , subjected all employees to a qualitative evaluation and hired new employees.

Kinzurashvili is single. She speaks Georgian, English and Russian.
