Tamara Kotevska
Tamara Kotevska ( Macedonian Тамара Котевска ; born August 9, 1993 in Prilep ) is a North Macedonian filmmaker .
Life
Tamara Kotevska is a Macedonian filmmaker who primarily by their 2019 resulting documentary Land of Honey ( Honey country has become known). Together with Ljubomir Stefanov , Kotevska spent three years in North Macedonia to shoot the documentary about a wild beekeeper, Hatidze. The film was originally intended to be a short documentary film about the Bregalnica River region when they came across the beekeeper . Kotevska and Stefanov previously worked together on another documentary, Lake of Apples (2017).
Honeyland won three awards at the 2019 Sundance Film Festival and received two 2020 Academy Awards nominations : Best Documentary and Best International Feature Film . It is the second Macedonian film to receive an Oscar nomination after Before the Rain (1994).
Kotevska was born in Prilep , Republic of Macedonia, what is now North Macedonia . She received a scholarship to study abroad in Tennessee for her junior year of high school. She attended the national film school in Skopje , with a focus on documentary film.
