Tamlaght Dolmen

The Tamlaght Dolmen , also known as Tamlaght Stone, Coagh Dolmen or Portal Tomb by Cloghtogle ( Irish Cloch thógála - ( German  "raised stone" )) is located north of Littlebridge Road, west of the Ballinderry River and about 700 m northwest of the town of Coagh im Townland Tamlaght ( Irish Tamhlacht ) in County Tyrone in Northern Ireland . Half of the townland is in County Londonderry . The dolmen is located in a hedge on the south side of a small street, is overgrown with bushes and ivy and is referred to on OS maps as a Chambered Grave or Cloghtogle. In the British Isles, portal tombs are megalithic systems in which two equally high, upright stones with a door stone in between form the front of a chamber, which is covered with a sometimes huge capstone.

The portal tomb consists of a solid round capstone that rests on four supporting stones, and other stones on the outside. The west-east oriented capstone is 1.6 m high, 2.8 m long and 2.3 m wide. The bearing stones are 1.15 m, 1.05 m, 0.95 m and 0.8 m high.
