The Tanahmerah Bay ( Indonesian Teluk Tanahmerah , "Red Bottom Bay"; English Tanahmerah Bay or Tanah Merah Bay ) is a bay on the north coast of the island of New Guinea . The bay is located in the Indonesian western New Guinea in the province of Papua , about 50 km northwest of the provincial capital Jayapura (Hollandia).
During the Second World War , American troops landed there as part of Operation Reckless .
