Taner Akyol

Taner Akyol (* 1977 in Bursa ) is a Turkish saz player and composer who lives in Berlin and studied composition there at the Hanns Eisler Music Academy . His children's opera in 2 acts Ali Baba and the 40 Robbers , with the libretto by Çetin İpekkaya , was premiered in 2012 at the Komische Oper Berlin . In the "Taner Aykol Trio" he makes music with Sebastian Flaig and Antonius Anissegos .

In an interview with the daily newspaper Junge Welt he declared that he would not make "Turkish folk music" but rather Anatolian music, because in Anatolia there lived "Armenians, Kurds, Persians, Arabs, including Turks; by faith ...
